Wärtsilä to supply power plants to Ukraine from Vaasa

Wärtsilä Finland Oy will supply power plants to Ukraine, Yle reports, citing Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The plants will be manufactured in Vaasa for Ukraine’s state-owned energy company Ukrnafta.

Ukrnafta will acquire the plants to help secure the country’s electricity generation. Finland is supporting the reconstruction of Ukraine’s energy sector with approximately 28.5 million euros in development cooperation funds.

Foreign Trade and Development Minister Ville Tavio said the project combines Finnish support for Ukraine with the strengths of Finnish technology.

“Finland has world-class energy expertise, which Ukraine needs for reconstruction. It is good that Finnish technology and Finnish workers are helping to strengthen Ukraine’s energy supply. At the same time, the project supports Finnish exports and employment,” Tavio said in a government statement.
