Far fewer applicants receive energy supplement

Many people applying for an energy supplement are being turned down, according to figures reported by Kringvarp Føroya. The figures show that not all applicants meet the eligibility requirements.
So far this year, 141 applications have been rejected, while 365 have been approved. A further 11 applications have not yet been processed.
The figures were provided to the Social Affairs Committee by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing, which obtained them from the Social Services authority.
There were 185 rejections and 427 approvals last year. In 2024, 285 applications were rejected and 486 were approved.
