Foreign minister Valtonen visits Åland for talks

Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen will visit Åland, Finland’s autonomous region, on Thursday, Yle reports. She will meet the region’s leadership during the visit.

Valtonen will discuss current issues related to the security situation in Finland, the Baltic Sea region, Europe and the Middle East with Åland’s regional councillor Katrin Sjögren. They will also discuss export promotion.

The minister is also scheduled to meet members of the regional government, as well as representatives of the police and the Border Guard.

President Alexander Stubb is also due to visit Åland later this month. He is scheduled to travel there with his spouse, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, next Monday.
