Partial solar eclipse covered 91 percent of the Sun over the Faroe Islands

People across the Faroe Islands had the opportunity to watch a partial solar eclipse on Wednesday evening, according to Kringvarp Føroya. The eclipse began at 5:56pm as the Moon gradually moved in front of the Sun.

It reached its peak at 6:54pm, when about 91 percent of the Sun was covered. Despite the extent of the coverage, it did not become dark in the same way as during the total solar eclipse seen in the Faroe Islands in 2015.

KVF received photographs from people who captured the eclipse. Nikkel Petersen took several of the images with an iPhone while at Eiði.
