Government parties demand review of Peltokangas Facebook post

Yle reports that Finland’s National Coalition Party and Swedish People’s Party are demanding that the Finns Party parliamentary group review a Facebook post by MP Mauri Peltokangas.

Education Minister Anders Adlercreutz of the Swedish People’s Party described the post as extremely racist, inappropriate, offensive and foolish on Yle’s A-studio.

Peltokangas wrote on Facebook that the Social Democrats would get people “their very own quota Muslim as a minister” if they won the election.

“This creates frightening images, labels people and speaks in a contemptuous and inappropriate manner,” Adlercreutz said.

Finns Party parliamentary group leader Jani Mäkelä has not promised that the matter will be discussed by the group.

“If the Finns Party does not deal with this, the matter will move to the parliamentary group leaders,” Adlercreutz said.

Adlercreutz said the Swedish People’s Party and the National Coalition Party had agreed on consequences if the matter proceeds to the group leaders’ review.
