Two arrested abroad in Kópavogur homicide investigation

Two men have been arrested abroad in connection with a homicide investigation in Kópavogur over the weekend, mbl.is reported, citing information from Vísir.

The men were reportedly arrested in separate European countries and are being held in pre-trial detention there. Eleven people have now been arrested in Iceland in connection with the case. Two remain in custody, while the others have been released.

The homicide took place on Vallarbraut in Kópavogur. Police believe a bladed weapon was used in the attack, but no such weapon has been found. The victim was a Polish citizen.

The investigation is still at an early stage. Police have carried out searches at several locations and searched vehicles, with assistance from Europol and law enforcement authorities in the two European countries where the arrests were made.

Police are also examining whether the case is connected to organised crime.
