Police respond after man found dead near Austurbæjarskóli
Police mounted a substantial response after a man was found dead near Austurbæjarskóli school shortly before 1pm on Tuesday, mbl.is reports.
Unnar Már Ástþórsson, a chief superintendent with the Capital Region Police, said a passer-by found the individual and contacted police after determining on closer inspection that he appeared to be dead.
The investigation is at an early stage, but police do not believe the death occurred under criminal circumstances. They are now trying to locate the man’s relatives.
It is not known whether any organised activities were taking place at the school while students are on summer holiday. However, no children appear to have been in the area, Ástþórsson said.
It is also not known whether the man had any connection to the school.
