Ässät posts nearly €920,000 profit after record revenue

HC Ässät, the company behind Pori ice hockey club Ässät, posted a profit of €918,698.99 in its latest financial year, Yle reports. Revenue reached a record level of more than €9.7 million.

The club’s equity ratio also rose from 26 per cent to 55 per cent following the strong financial result.

“The result is extremely strong, and it was needed in these times of intensifying competition,” Ässät chief executive Sami Hautamäki said in a statement.

Hautamäki said playoff revenue and one-off items, including National Hockey League compensation payments and a capital repayment from Liiga, had the biggest impact on the profit. Corporate sales and regular-season ticket sales also exceeded expectations.

The club’s reported player budget for the coming season was €2.45 million at the beginning of the financial year. Hautamäki said the profit gives Ässät room to adjust that budget, while noting that making a profit during the current season will be particularly challenging.

Ässät will begin its Liiga season in Oulu on 1 September. Its first home game, against Ilves, is scheduled for 4 September.
