Helga Dís Jakobsdóttir has been appointed commercial director at Iceland Duty Free, mbl.is reports.
She has worked for the company since February, and Iceland Duty Free said it was particularly pleased to fill the position from within its own ranks.
The commercial division oversees product management, marketing, the supply chain and inventory management. The company said the division plays a key role in shaping its product range and customer experience.
Helga Dís has served as category manager for cosmetics and speciality products at Iceland Duty Free in recent months. In that role, she became familiar with the company’s operations, team and suppliers.
She previously worked for Samkaup, first as customer service and experience manager, then as marketing manager at Nettó, where she oversaw the chain’s marketing and customer experience nationwide, and later as a category manager. Before that, she was operations manager at Hjá Halla restaurant at Keflavík Airport and worked for several years at the Blue Lagoon.
Helga Dís holds a master’s degree in service management and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iceland. She also served on the Grindavík municipal council from 2018 to 2024.
