Police negotiators respond to psychological crisis situation in Midvágur

Police negotiators responded to a residence along the main road in Midvágur this evening.

“It involves a man who is experiencing severe psychological distress, so we dispatched our specially trained police crew and two negotiators to defuse the tense situation,” said the duty officer at the police station.

The police team, well-staffed and armed with equipment including shields, entered the residence, and the operation appeared to proceed peacefully.

The duty officer noted that the negotiators were called in to ensure the safety of the police personnel involved.

“We prefer to avoid having to respond with force,” the officer stated.
