A woman in her 80s is no longer formally suspected after a cyclist died in a head-on collision in Nordre Follo, just outside Oslo, Dagbladet reports.

The man in his 40s, who was from Oslo, was part of a larger group of cyclists when he collided with a passenger car travelling in the opposite direction.

Police senior superintendent Peter Levi Skogvang of the Eastern Police District said officers decided to release the information after a large number of rumours began circulating on social media, including TikTok.

“It is important for us to say this now, even though it has only been a short time since the accident. There is nothing to indicate that the driver did anything blameworthy,” he told Østlandets Blad.

Police also said there is no suspicion against anyone in the cycling group.
