Man dies after car crashes into rock face on Turku motorway

A young adult man died after his car left the road and crashed into a rock face on the Turku motorway in Vihti early Monday, Yle reported.

The crash happened near the Palojärvi interchange at around 5 a.m., according to the Western Uusimaa Police Department. The car caught fire after the collision.

The man was the only person in the vehicle and died at the scene. Police said the crash did not appear to involve any other vehicles based on the information available.

The motorway was closed for several hours, until around 10.30 a.m. Traffic was diverted via Road 110 while rescue, clearance and technical police investigations were carried out at the scene.
