Perseid meteor shower will peak before Thursday dawn

Yle reports that this week will offer a good opportunity to see the Perseid meteor shower, one of the year’s most spectacular regular meteor showers.

The Moon will not interfere with viewing this year. The best chance to see the meteors will be in the early hours of Thursday, when as many as 60 meteors could be visible in an hour.

The Perseids appear to come from the direction of the constellation Perseus, although meteors can be seen across the sky.
