Wednesday eclipse expected to have clear skies across Finland

Yle meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander forecasts unsettled weather at the start of the week, but says Wednesday evening should bring clear skies across almost all of Finland for the partial solar eclipse. The weekend may turn warmer, especially in southern Finland.
Monday
A low-pressure system arriving from the west will bring a broad area of rain across Finland. Rain will reach many parts of Lapland in the morning and western Finland in the afternoon.
Southern and central Finland will also face strong, gusty winds, with wind warnings in place. Temperatures in the west will fall below 20C in the rain, while eastern Finland should remain dry and warm, with temperatures possibly reaching heatwave levels.
Rain will spread eastwards during Monday evening, with particularly wet conditions expected overnight into Tuesday.
Tuesday
Tuesday will remain unsettled, with showers following the main area of rain. Thunderstorms are possible in southeastern Finland.
Winds will continue, this time from the north rather than the south. Temperatures will fall to around 15C in parts of Ostrobothnia, while southern Finland will reach about 20C or slightly below. Lapland will be windy, cloudy and locally showery.
Wednesday
Sunny periods will become more widespread on Wednesday. Temperatures in the north will approach 15C, but will remain below 20C in much of the country. Scattered showers are still possible.
Wednesday evening’s partial solar eclipse is expected to have favourable viewing conditions. Lohtander said the skies look likely to be clear across almost the entire country.
End of the week
Thursday will not yet bring a significant rise in temperatures, but the weekend forecast looks more promising, particularly in southern Finland, where warmer weather is expected.
The weekend looks wetter in the north. Lohtander noted that the forecast could still change because the weekend is almost a week away, although it has remained relatively consistent for the past few days.
