Virgin Orchestra completes tour ahead of Queens support

Virgin Orchestra has returned from a seven-show tour of Britain and Italy and will support Queens of the Stone Age in October, mbl.is reports.

The Icelandic trio consists of guitarist and composer Starri Holm, Rún Árnadóttir and Stefanía Pálsdóttir. Their July concerts took them to Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Cardiff, London and Brighton in England.

“The concerts in Britain went very well, especially in London and Brighton,” Starri told mbl.is. He said the band was surprised by the number of fans who attended.

They then travelled to Tuscany, where they performed as the headline act at the Serravalle rock music festival. The concert took place one evening in an old castle in a town called Serravalle.

Although the evening performance went well, the heat during the soundcheck earlier that day caused problems. The band uses a computer on stage to produce its drum sound, but strong sunlight caused it to overheat and malfunction.

Starri said he became so sweaty and dehydrated that he could barely think. The band eventually had to place the computer in a refrigerator for 10 minutes to cool it down.

He said everything worked properly during the concert itself.
