Coast Guard helicopter responds to motorcycle crash

A man was injured after falling from a motorcycle near Þórisvatn on the Sprengisandur route on Sunday morning, mbl.is reports. The Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter was called to the scene and is returning to Reykjavík with the injured man.

Einar Valsson of the Coast Guard told mbl.is that the motorcycle was travelling at considerable speed when the man fell, probably around 60 kilometres per hour.

The severity of his injuries is not yet known, Valsson said.
