Norwegian Coast Guard ship arrives in Akureyri

The Norwegian Coast Guard vessel Hopen is at the harbour in Akureyri after sailing in this morning, mbl.is reports.

Hopen is part of the Norwegian Coast Guard fleet and has been on an expedition since June. The ship visited Reykjavík that month before travelling to Canada and Greenland.

The Norwegian Coast Guard, which is part of the Norwegian Navy, cooperates with Iceland’s Coast Guard.

Joint exercises and training involving the two coast guards will take place over the coming days, after which Hopen will return to Norway.
