Police stop Hopp car driver for drunk driving

Police stopped a driver using a Hopp car and found that he was under the influence of alcohol, mbl.is reports. The incident was among those recorded in the police log covering the period from 5pm on Saturday to 5am on Sunday.

The driver was stopped in the district covered by Police Station 1. Two other drivers were also stopped for suspected drink-driving in the same district.

In the district covered by Police Station 2, which includes Hafnarfjörður and Garðabær, three additional drivers were stopped on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs. One of them had also been disqualified from driving, and the vehicle had incorrect registration plates.

Officers from Police Station 4, which covers Kópavogur and Breiðholt, stopped four drivers for speeding. One was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Another driver was later stopped on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

Police also stopped a driver who was using studded winter tyres. They reminded motorists that, despite the disappointing summer in the capital region, the period for using studded tyres does not begin until November 1.
