Police record 56 cases during relatively quiet Saturday

Police in the capital region recorded 56 cases between 5am and 5pm on Saturday, mbl.is reported, including assaults, break-ins and property damage. The police summary said that no one was currently being held in detention.

Reports received by Police Station One at Hlemmur included a break-in at a garage, property damage at a school and an assault. Police also went with firefighters to investigate a reported fire in a storage area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Officers also responded to a call involving people who ignored closures in central Reykjavík.

Staff at Police Station Two in Hafnarfjörður assisted ambulance workers. In the jurisdiction of Station Three in Kópavogur, an electric bicycle collided with a car without causing injuries. Police there also received reports of people in a car who appeared to be under some kind of influence, a theft from a grocery store and a woman found in possession of narcotics.

Police at Station Four in Grafarvogur and nearby areas dealt with a grocery store theft. Officers from all stations continued to monitor traffic and other locations and remained available to assist residents with both minor and serious incidents.
