Heavy rain raises landslide risk on Iceland’s Strönd region

Heavy rain in recent days has prompted Iceland’s Road and Coastal Administration to warn of a risk of mudslides and rockfalls reaching roads in the Strönd region, mbl.is reports.
In a notice on Umferðin.is, motorists are urged to take particular care when travelling in the area this weekend.
People are also advised not to remain for long beneath ravines or steep slopes, where soil or rocks could loosen following the rainfall.
