The whaling vessel Bandero is no longer being held in a closed-off area and has been moved to Miðbakki, mbl.is reports.
The decision followed the lifting of a gangway watch and a police demand that the vessel remain in the restricted area. Bandero was moved from Sundahöfn to Austurbakki in Reykjavík’s Old Harbour, which is also sometimes called Miðbakki.
Eldar Ástþórsson, marketing and communications manager at Faxaflóahafnir, confirmed the move to mbl.is.
“On Thursday, the police’s demand was lifted and the vessel was therefore moved to Austurbakki in the Old Harbour, as other larger vessels were docking at Sundahöfn that day,” he said.
