The Southwest Finland Police have completed their preliminary investigation into a stabbing incident that occurred in the Perniö residential area of Turku in May. According to a statement from the police, a 50-year-old man is suspected of two counts of attempted murder. The two male victims were attacked with a sharp object on their necks in a public space, sustaining serious injuries.

The investigation revealed that the suspect acted deliberately and with a clear intention. “The victims were chosen at random. The suspect cited a long-standing personal animosity as the motivation, which was not directed at any specific individual or group,” stated Chief Investigator, Crime Commissioner Tommi Kosunen, in the announcement.

The suspect has confessed to the attempted murders during police interrogations and remains in custody. The case will now proceed to the prosecution stage.
