V MPs face criticism over letters to Palestinian prisoners

Members of Sweden’s Left Party in parliament have faced strong criticism after a support campaign for Palestinian prisoners was found to include people convicted of crimes, SVT reports.

Earlier this week, Expressen revealed that Left Party MP Ilona Szatmári Waldau had written a letter of support to a Palestinian prisoner convicted of ordering terror bombings that killed several people in Israel.

Group leader Samuel Gonzales Westling is also reported to have sent a letter to a man previously convicted of murdering an Israeli.
