Newly opened Hotel KG in Klaksvík will be put to a major test when thousands of Summarfestival guests arrive, Kringvarp Føroya reports.
The hotel opened its doors in July and is fully booked for the festival, which is being held next door.
“The hotel will be very full during Summarfestival, so we will be properly tested in a good way, and we are really excited,” said Eirikur Jákupsson, the hotel’s manager.
The hotel has prepared for the event by adjusting its operations and simplifying its menus to reduce queues. “We would preferably not have people standing in line, so we have adapted the menus to make them simpler, so people do not have to queue. But we have good people at KG, so we are excited about the challenge,” Jákupsson said.
Much has changed in Klaksvík since Summarfestival was first held in 2004. Where caravans once stood behind the stage at Vágsbøi, apartment buildings and the new hotel now stand.
