Fire burns 7,500-cubic-metre waste pile in Janakkala

Around 7,500 cubic metres of energy waste is burning at the Hyötymäki recycling station in Tervakoski, Janakkala, Yle reported. The fire is producing large amounts of smoke, and a hazardous warning has been issued for the area.
The Kanta-Häme rescue department said the fire had been prevented from spreading. Firefighting was expected to continue at least through the morning.
The pile covers just under 1,600 square metres and is about six metres high at its tallest point, the duty fire chief said.
Nine rescue service units are working to extinguish the fire, assisted by three excavators. The rescue department received the alarm at around 2.30am.
