DSB pays twice as much compensation after difficult first half

DSB paid 60.4 million kroner in compensation to train passengers during the first half of 2026, more than twice the amount paid during the same period last year, according to DR.

Many track works and fallen overhead lines disrupted train operations during the first six months of the year. DSB paid 27 million kroner in compensation in the first half of 2025.

The 2026 total is close to the 64.7 million kroner DSB paid in compensation throughout last year.

Compensation breakdown

Under the Basic Travel Time Guarantee, DSB paid 16,109,789 kroner in cash and issued 30,182 new tickets for equivalent journeys during the first half of 2026. During the same period in 2025, it paid 7,355,275 kroner in cash and issued 13,665 tickets.

Under the Commuter Travel Time Guarantee, DSB paid 44,320,522 kroner to 44,555 commuters in the first half of 2026. In the first half of 2025, it paid 19,649,345 kroner to 33,421 commuters.
