Liberal Alliance MP failed to register care home board role

Liberal Alliance MP Helena Artmann Andresen failed to register her board position at the Natura Hjem residential care facility, which paid her 18,000 kroner in fees, DR reports. Social Democratic MP Benny Engelbrecht says she breached the applicable rules.

Engelbrecht plans to raise the matter with the Folketing’s Rules of Procedure Committee, of which he is a member.

“She has breached the rules that apply,” Engelbrecht said, calling the omission inappropriate, particularly because the register is based on trust. The register is intended to provide transparency about MPs’ positions and financial interests.

Natura Hjem, located in Aarhus, was criticised in a supervisory report issued last month by Socialtilsyn Midt. According to TV Syd, the report concluded that the residential care facility was neither professionally nor financially sound, and that its board was not active or competent.

Andresen left the board on 29 June, Liberal Alliance told DR. She said in a written statement that failing to register the position had been an oversight and that she had now corrected it.

“It was never a secret that I was on the board,” Andresen wrote, saying the position had been listed on her Folketing profile and social media. She said she had not received the supervisory report and that it had not influenced her decision to leave. Instead, she cited what she described as important information being withheld from her and other board members.

Engelbrecht said the case deserved the committee’s increased attention because the facility had received sharp criticism while Andresen had dismissed the omission as an oversight. Andresen declined to comment on his statements.

Liberal Alliance said it had contacted the Folketing administration. The register has now been updated to show that Andresen has no positions to declare.
