GreenMobility targets driverless car-sharing launch in Copenhagen

GreenMobility has partnered with Chinese company WeRide to pursue the launch of driverless car-sharing vehicles in Copenhagen during the first half of 2027, DR reports.

If the necessary regulatory approvals are granted, passengers will be able to book journeys operated by GXR, WeRide’s latest generation of EU-compliant fully autonomous vehicles.

Unlike the driverless cars currently being tested, the vehicles using WeRide’s latest technology will not have a person behind the wheel. The companies say they will be the first to work towards a commercial rollout of autonomous mobility in Denmark.

“We are proud to partner with a world-class company such as WeRide, whose technology is among the most advanced in the industry,” Kasper Gjedsted, GreenMobility’s chief executive, said in a press release.

The partnership combines WeRide’s driverless technology with GreenMobility’s knowledge of the Danish car-sharing market. The rollout will be carried out in cooperation with the Danish Road Directorate and the Danish Road Traffic Authority.

Earlier this year, the Danish Road Traffic Authority approved the use in Denmark of Tesla’s FSD Supervised driver-assistance system, which can help with acceleration, braking, steering and lane changes.
