Fire destroys residential building in Sotkamo

A residential building was destroyed by fire near Parkua in Sotkamo early Saturday, Yle reported. No injuries have been reported.

Henrik Ilvesluoto, the duty fire chief, said the people inside the building had managed to get out on their own.

Emergency services received the alarm shortly before 5 a.m. When firefighters reached the scene on Pirttimäentie, the building was already fully engulfed.

At 9.30 a.m., crews were still clearing the remains of the burned building. Fire units attended from Sotkamo, Kajaani and Paltamo.
