Bystanders restrain robbery suspect at Espoo café
A man suspected of aggravated robbery was detained by bystanders after allegedly threatening staff and customers at a café in Laajalahti, Espoo, on Friday afternoon, Western Uusimaa Police told Yle.
The incident took place at about 1 p.m. Police said the man apparently used a bladed weapon to threaten people before taking cash from the café register.
Bystanders prevented him from leaving and held him until a police patrol arrived. He is now in police custody and the situation no longer poses a danger.
No injuries have been reported, but those present were frightened and are being offered crisis support. Police are continuing their preliminary investigation.
