Finland’s sole silver mine, Sotkamo Silver in Sotkamo, achieved record revenue in the second quarter of 2026, with turnover rising 151% year-on-year to 198 million Swedish krona (over €18 million), the company reported to Yle.

The surge follows higher production of silver, gold, and lead, coupled with rising prices for silver and gold. Silver, the mine’s primary product, averaged $73 per ounce in Q2, up from under $40 a year earlier, though prices have since dipped below $60 at times.

First-half revenue reached 384 million krona (over €35 million), a 160% increase from the same period in 2025. The mine also posted a positive operating profit of €6.6 million in Q1, compared to a loss the previous year.

Recent drilling has confirmed 50% more mineral reserves than initially estimated, extending the mine’s operational lifespan to at least 2035. CEO Mikko Jalasto noted that deeper mining levels, set to open soon, will further secure production.
