Boys pull unexploded ordnance from passenger harbour in Joensuu

Two boys magnet fishing at Joensuu’s Rantakatu passenger harbour on Thursday evening hauled in a rusted shell, Itä-Suomen police said.

Emergency services were alerted and police cordoned off the area. The shell was identified as belonging to the Finnish Defence Forces.

Defence Forces disposal teams later removed the ordnance for destruction, after which the harbour cordon was lifted.
