Body of elderly man found in Lake Puula, Hirvensalmi

An elderly man was found dead in Lake Puula in Hirvensalmi on Thursday afternoon, according to a report by the Eastern Finland Police Department.

Police and rescue services received an emergency call shortly after 5 p.m. to assist a person in the water. A small motorboat was found empty, drifting south of Puukonsaari island. The man’s body was discovered in the water a few hundred metres from the boat. He was not wearing a life jacket.

Police are investigating the incident as a death inquiry.
