Gunfire reported in Ilomantsi, bullets struck trees and car

Police in Ilomantsi are investigating after a resident in Marjovaara reported hearing four to five gunshots last Friday afternoon, according to a report by Finnish broadcaster Yle.

A bullet struck a car parked in the yard, passing through the front fender. Other bullets whistled through the treetops of the property, with the shots coming from the direction of Ilomantsintie road.

Authorities are treating the incident as suspected endangerment, firearms offenses, and property damage.
