Prime minister to join Stockholm Pride parade

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will march in this year’s Stockholm Pride parade on Saturday, according to Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson, who will also participate.

In 2025, Simona Mohamsson of the Liberals was the only government party leader to join the parade. This year, both the prime minister and the finance minister will take part, Svantesson confirmed on Thursday.

Kristersson will not attend a party leader debate hosted by RFSL on Thursday evening. Svantesson said there may be reasons he cannot be present that night, but noted both will be involved throughout Saturday.

Svantesson also commented on the exclusion of the Sweden Democrats from Stockholm Pride since 2014, calling it “rather stupid.” She argued the party holds significant influence and responsibility, and excluding them is fundamentally poor judgment.
