Homeless camp near Copenhagen metro station cleared

A makeshift camp near Havneholmen Metro station in Copenhagen has been abandoned, with its residents appearing to have left voluntarily, DR reports.

The site, which had drawn complaints from some local residents, now contains only scattered refuse and a few empty strollers, according to images from the scene.

Christian Pedersen, a nearby resident, said the camp’s occupants had simply disappeared. “Suddenly, they were just gone,” he told DR. Pedersen added that he had not been bothered by their presence, noting only that they had occupied two benches in a nearby park.

Earlier, Copenhagen Municipality had contacted Copenhagen Police to request the camp’s removal, but police declined. Authorities then entered discussions to find a joint solution, though the camp’s departure now appears to have resolved the issue.
