A father was left stunned after his three-year-old son discovered human feces on the floor at Leo’s Lekeland in Oslo, Dagbladet reports.
Rune Weierholt, 46, said his son ran to him shouting, “Dad, I found a poop!” He confirmed the child was right—someone had defecated in a corner near the bike track, about 15 meters from the restroom.
Weierholt said he had already noticed poor cleanliness upon arrival, with coffee cups, juice spills, and sticky soda stains so severe his socks stuck to the floor. He alerted staff, but claimed little was done beyond picking up a few cups before employees returned to their phones.
After the discovery, staff only cleaned the immediate area, according to Weierholt, who described their response as dismissive. “It felt like they were doing the absolute minimum,” he said.
Leo’s Lekeland marketing director Gabriel Bergqvist confirmed local management was aware of the incident. He called the experience “very regrettable” but stated the facility follows strict daily cleaning and pre-opening safety routines. “We currently see no need to update our procedures,” Bergqvist said.
Weierholt, a repeat visitor, said this was the worst he had seen. While he acknowledged accidents happen, he expects better accountability, especially during peak summer visits. He may now consider alternative play centers in Bærum.
