The Faroese minister responsible for the meteorological office has pledged to secure necessary funding for pollen measurement equipment, stating it is “obvious” the service should be able to track pollen levels in the islands.

Bárður á Steig Nielsen, the minister overseeing Veðurstovan (Faroese Meteorological Office), made the commitment after a private individual, Regin W. Dalsgaard, launched a website displaying pollen measurements in the Faroe Islands. When asked if the meteorological office could conduct such monitoring, the office’s department head, Bárður A. Niclasen, confirmed it was possible but required specialized equipment not currently available.

Nielsen told public broadcaster KVF that he is determined to provide the funding so that pollen measurements can be carried out in the Faroes.
