Weather warnings issued as heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted in southern Finland
In southern Finland, the weather will remain showery today, Sunday, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall, according to Yle meteorologist Matti Huutonen. Strong rain and thunderstorms are expected to develop in the south and west later in the afternoon, impacting a wide region that stretches from the southeast to Ostrobothnia. Intense showers could lead to localized flooding in urban areas.
Weather warnings are in effect for southern and western Finland, while the northern regions will enjoy drier conditions.
As the week progresses, the weather is set to improve. Most parts of the country will experience fair and frequently sunny conditions early in the week. Heavy rain will subside, with Monday seeing showers concentrated in western and southwestern Finland. By Tuesday, however, a dry day is anticipated across almost the entire country, with sunny spells likely.
With the shift towards drier weather, temperatures are expected to rise slightly, surpassing 20 degrees Celsius across Finland. Tuesday is projected to be predominantly sunny, with some areas in the south potentially exceeding heatwave thresholds.
Wednesday is expected to continue in a similar vein, featuring predominantly warm, dry weather. No significant changes are anticipated for the weather later in the week.
