House fire in Savonlinna sends smoke over residential area

Firefighters in South Savo are battling a fully developed house fire on Mäntykatu in Savonlinna, Yle reports.

The emergency call came in shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday. Crews expect firefighting efforts to continue through the morning.

Heavy smoke from the blaze is spreading into the surrounding residential area. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
