Prosecutors have filed charges against a 13-year-old boy for a mass shooting in Gävle last October, SVT reports. The boy is suspected of firing nine shots, wounding six people on Södra Kungsgatan shortly before 02:00.

The shooting is believed to have been ordered by the criminal network Foxtrot, with the boy allegedly recruited via TikTok just days before the attack. SVT crime reporter Diamant Salihu said adults close to the boy, including his parents, had raised alarms before the incident.

Salihu warned that authorities must improve cooperation to prevent such crimes, noting that young recruits can be mobilised rapidly. He described the case as an example of “crime as a service,” where unrelated individuals are hired through social media to commit violent acts for money.

Such cases have surged in Sweden in recent years, Salihu said, with young offenders increasingly being used and even exported to neighbouring countries.
