Residents of Jóannes Paturssonargøta in Tórshavn were caught off guard when Kringvarp Føroya reported that the municipality was revising zoning regulations for the area, the broadcaster said on Friday.
According to KVF, Tórshavn municipality has held meetings on a proposal to amend special building permissions between Jóannes Paturssonargøta and Landavegur. Hjalti Bogason Støylen, a local resident, told the broadcaster that parking is already scarce in the neighbourhood. The plan includes 24 new housing units, each with one parking space, which he said would worsen the shortage.
Støylen also noted that the proposed height increase of 4 metres for the new building would block both views and sunlight. He expressed hope for a solution that works for everyone.
