Wet and mild weather favours apple scab spread

Wet and mild conditions are giving apple scab ideal conditions to spread, reports Faroese broadcaster KVF.

The fungal disease is now appearing in orchards, and once established, it is nearly impossible to eradicate, according to Kim Neider, a gardener at the Faroese Agricultural Agency.

Preventive spraying is the only effective defence, Neider said, and should be done at regular intervals from now until harvest.
