Person named person of interest after Krokstadelva fire

Police have named a person of interest following the weekend fire in Krokstadelva, according to a statement from the South-Eastern Norway Police District.

The person was given the status after investigators received information from the public, the district said. Police emphasised that the status does not imply any concrete suspicion of criminal activity.

“Even though a person has been designated as a person of interest, this does not mean that police have information about the cause of the fire or that a crime has occurred,” said police prosecutor Nina Fladhus.

Investigators continue to gather evidence and have requested video or images taken between 13:00 and 16:00 on the day of the fire. They have also indicated a suspected ignition point but have not confirmed the cause.

Forensic examinations at the site have been delayed due to high temperatures. The National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos) is assisting with the technical investigation, which is expected to begin as soon as conditions allow.
