Police seek two suspects in Oulu bicycle stabbing spree

Police in Oulu are pursuing two suspects in connection with a series of bicycle-related stabbings that have left five victims injured over the past 15 months.

According to Oulu Police Department Superintendent Petri Savela, the attacks occurred in isolated locations with little to no eyewitnesses. The first incident took place in spring 2025, followed by four more this year—one in April, one in May and two in June. All victims were individuals with foreign backgrounds, aged between 20 and 40, and three suffered potentially life-threatening injuries, including stab wounds to the back.

Savela confirmed that one suspect has been questioned but no arrests have been made. Police have released images and video of a second suspect and received numerous public tips, yet the individual remains at large. The attacks occurred within a few kilometers of each other in the city.

“The lack of witnesses and the speed of the attacks make this case particularly challenging,” Savela said. “We need concrete evidence, not just tips, to make an arrest.” He also noted that while public concern is understandable, the investigation remains active and supported by the National Bureau of Investigation.
