Authorities investigate aggravated destruction following fire in Lappeenranta

Authorities are investigating a fire that occurred last night in Lappeenranta as a case of aggravated destruction. The blaze broke out in a first-floor apartment of a six-story building located on Orioninkatu in the Skinnarila district just before midnight. According to the fire department, the apartment was severely damaged.

Thick smoke from the fire spread into the stairwell and affected residents in upper floors, leading to the evacuation of eleven tenants. Emergency medical services transported two of the evacuated individuals to the hospital due to smoke exposure. Fortunately, there were no occupants in the burned apartment at the time of the incident.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the fire. The police are continuing their investigation into the aggravated destruction and will provide further updates next week if necessary.
