Passengers on Sjælland rerouted to train buses after track work delay

Passengers on western and central Sjælland were forced onto train buses on Monday after severe weather disrupted overnight track repairs, delaying completion of scheduled maintenance work.

Danish rail operator DSB confirmed 23 buses were in service from 09:00, warning that delays and waiting times were likely. Services between Ringsted and Slagelse were replaced by buses until 17:00.

Steen Christensen, a passenger on the Fredericia–Slagelse route, said he waited 45 minutes for a replacement bus and described the disruption as “annoying.”

“We pay and reserve tickets, and then there’s chaos,” he said. “I think they’re doing what they can, but they could have practiced a bit more.”

Peter Rasmussen, another commuter stranded at Slagelse Station, called the situation “a mess” and said he was late for work.

Banedanmark, the infrastructure manager, attributed the delay to storm damage overnight that prevented timely completion of the track work.
