France apologises after heavy defeat to England

France’s captain Kylian Mbappé has publicly apologised after his team’s 4-0 defeat to England in the World Cup bronze‑match play‑off on Saturday.

Mbappé’s remarks came as French players were booed off the pitch and criticised for their performance in Lyon. The defeat ended Didier Deschamps’ final match as national coach.
