A 48-year-old man has been charged with murdering a 62-year-old man and attempting to murder a police officer during a shooting in Nørresundby, north of Aalborg, on Friday. The suspect admitted to killing the civilian but denied intent to murder the officer, according to a preliminary hearing on Saturday.
The suspect, who was wounded during the exchange, told the court he could not recall the events of Friday. He acknowledged being present at the scene but stated he “could not take any more” and “wanted to take his own life.”
Three people were shot during the incident in an industrial area at Virkelyst 12. The 62-year-old victim died from his injuries, the suspect was seriously wounded, and a police officer was struck in the leg but remains in stable condition.
Police were initially called to the area after reports of a fire and possible shooting. Upon arrival, the 48-year-old suspect opened fire, wounding the officer before being shot in the neck and critically injured.
