The night during the Þjóðhátíð festival in Vestmannaeyjar passed relatively smoothly, with the police reporting no serious incidents. Five individuals were detained overnight primarily due to intoxication. Despite the festive atmosphere with thousands in attendance, police chief Stefán Jónsson stated that operations were well-managed this year.

The festival’s current weather conditions are not ideal, as a yellow weather warning is in effect beginning at 10 AM due to strong easterly winds, lasting until 6 PM. The police are preparing for potential weather-related challenges, although the situation remains calm at this time.

The celebration, which took place in Heimay, has drawn a large crowd, but authorities are keeping a close watch on the ongoing weather developments. The festival, known for its lively activities and community spirit, continues to attract both locals and guests, fostering a sense of togetherness among families.
